JITEX 2026: Fostering a Global Trade and Investment Ecosystem

Gearing up for its third edition, the 2026 Jakarta International Trade, Tourism and SMEs Expo (JITEX) returns this September. Organized by the Jakarta government alongside ATTEC and HIPPINDO, the expo will be held at JIExpo Kemayoran from September 16 to 19, 2026.

It shows that creative financing is a collaborative effort

Under the theme ‘One Vision: Ignite The Economy,’ JITEX 2026 aims to be a catalyst for growth, bringing together the trade, tourism, and SME sectors under one roof.

This event will feature a diverse lineup of programs, ranging from Local Product & Trade Exhibitions and International Exhibition Unveils to Business Matching sessions and Investment Forums. The schedule also includes insightful talk shows, workshops, cultural performances, and live entertainment.

Further, HIPPINDO is set to invite international buyers and global investors to attend JITEX at JIExpo, fostering significant cross-border trade opportunities.

Jakarta Governor Special Staff Deputy Coordinator, Yustinus Prastowo lauded JITEX 2026 for achieving a significant milestone: for the first time, the event is being fully funded by business associations without relying on the City Budget (APBD).

He noted that this move demonstrates how creative financing is not exclusive to the government but can be effectively driven by the private sector.

"In its third year, this is the first time the expo is held without the APBD. It shows that creative financing is a collaborative effort where the private sector plays a vital role. We truly value this contribution,” he explained, Balai Agung Great Hall, City Hall, Tuesday (9/1).

This event represents a strategic partnership between the Jakarta government’s PPKUKM Agency and HIPPINDO. JITEX is designed to strengthen the city's trade, investment, and tourism sectors while providing a platform for MSME empowerment.

JITEX stands as a cornerstone of Jakarta’s ongoing economic expansion strategy, joining the ranks of the recently held Jakarta Asset Forum & Expo and the Jakarta Investment Festival.

“It is essential that we evaluate these initiatives based on their impact rather than just their quantity. This is a litmus test for us to build even deeper and more effective collaborations in the future,” he added.

He went on to say that Jakarta’s economic growth of 5.52 percent in the second quarter of 2026 underscores the city’s vital role as a service and trade hub. Jakarta currently accounts for 16.32 percent of the national economy, with the wholesale and retail trade sectors contributing a significant 18.24 percent.

Consequently, he emphasized that strengthening the business ecosystem must be supported by robust regulations, administrative efficiency, technical assistance, and the enhancement of human capital.

"Without superior talent capable of meeting industry demands, Jakarta will undoubtedly squander the vast opportunities at its doorstep," he added.

Yustinus envisions JITEX as a collaborative hub where various stakeholders can voice their concerns and co-create solutions for a better business environment. He emphasized, the forum must be instrumental in smoothing the interaction between entrepreneurs and the bureaucracy.

Then, he pushed for all government agencies to play an active role, moving past symbolism to deliver real follow-up actions for industry players.

“My goal is for JITEX to turn the concept of MSMEs leveling up from a cliché into a reality. By implementing a clear performance-based system, we can ensure these businesses aren't just growing on paper, but are becoming world-class competitors,” he continued.

Jakarta PPKUKM Agency Head, Elisabeth Ratu Rante Allo, stated that JITEX 2026 provides a golden opportunity for Jakarta’s MSMEs to secure international buyers and gain the expertise needed to expand into global markets.

"I hope that business owners in Jakarta, particularly our MSMEs, can successfully connect with buyers and gain firsthand experience in what it takes to trade and scale their businesses on a global level," she concluded.
